About Sheridan Fitzgerald Management
Originally a successful Stage and TV actress, Sheridan Fitzgerald decided to quit acting to become an agent. Having spent two years as an agent’s assistant, she went solo in 1986. She was joined by her friend and associate Harold “Brookie” Brookstone, whom she had met as an actress in TV, who took on much of the ‘leg work’, whilst Sheridan concentrated on casting and contracts. In 1988, Edward Romfourt joined her list as a client, a relationship which evolved to a personal level. Keeping their professional and private relationships strictly separate, Edward also advised Sheridan on legal issues, photographic selections and, being a car owner, arranged many of the theatre visit schedules until her early death in January 1998. On her death, Sheridan’s parents asked Edward and Brookie to continue running the agency. Maintaining Sheridan’s ideals, the agency offers personal representation based upon a wide combination of experiences gained in various aspects of the industry. When submitting clients, we take a dual perspective, both from that of client and casting director, with the simple question, “Am I pleased to meet you?”
Harold Brookstone: Working behind the scenes, Brookie spent almost 40 years as a theatre Stage Manager, as well as working in TV for companies such as Granada and BBC, as a Senior Floor Manager, and First Assistant Director in drama, including: Armchair Theatre, Play for Today and Play of The Week. Latterly, he held similar positions with ITN
Edward Romfourt: Starting in his early teens, he combined acting with playing guitar and singing in Country & Western bands. In nearly 50 years, as well as acting, Edward has worked as a Technical Stage Director in Sunderland and at the Theatre Royal, Lincoln, as Property Master for the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company, operated lighting for numerous shows and companies, including Sadlers Wells Opera and Ballet, Marlene Dietrich, Johnny Mathis, Slade, Ken Dodd, and The Kiev Red Army Ensemble. During the 70s, in Sunderland, he became involved with his first theatrical agency, Stage & Screen Promotions, which he followed in the 80s by co-founding Masque Management with actress Gillie Gratham. In the 1990s he was a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4’s, Week Ending, and Radio 2’s The News Huddlines. He was also script consultant and casting director on the sketches for London News Radio’s series The Nature of The Beast, as well as co-directing a number of the sketches. In 2004, he founded Leading Lady Productions, with Judi Bowker and Harry Meacher, Edward’s special contribution being sound creation and recording and creating special visual and make-up effects, which he has also done for Coach House Films and 10th Planet Productions, as well as numerous stage productions.
